Workshop: Access to Standardization

European flag

On Monday 27th April 2009 a workshop will be held in Brussels where the findings and recommendations of the study on "Access to standardisation" will be presented.

In its recent Communication “Towards an increased contribution of standardisation to innovation in Europe”, as well as in the Small Business Act for Europe, the European Commission invited the European Standards Organisations to facilitate the Access to Standardisation. Stakeholders need to be able to participate in the standards development process in a facilitated way, and to have easy access to standards and drafts standardisation documents.

During the last 15 months, a consultancy firm (EIM) has conducted a study on behalf of the Commission on “Access to standardisation”. The objective of that study was to measure whether there is a gap between declared principles of transparency and openness that govern standardisation, and the perceptions of stakeholders. The study was also aiming at providing recommendations in areas where access to standardisation could be improved.

Now, after the final report has been delivered, and has been made public (http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/standards_policy/index_en.htm), a workshop will be held in Brussels on April 27th from 14:00 to 17:30 during which the findings and recommendations of the study will be presented. The workshop will take place at the CCAB - Centre Borschette - Meeting Room AB-0B - Rue Froissart 36 - 1040 Brussels and is open to all national and European stakeholders interested in European Standardisation.

As the number of seats in the meeting room is limited, the "first registered - first served" principle is applied.
